Vicarious

Over the weekend we had friends in town, which was BRILLIANT, hanging and catching up. Shea and part of the crew went to the O.A.R. show on the mountain, which at one time was into, but they have kind of morphed into a "frat" band and just don't jive with his tastes anymore (i.e. mountain man music).

My running schedule said 22 miles for this weekend, but I knew it wouldn't be possible with the pals here. So, I switched it with next weekend's 15'er. As I've said before, we have a much later melt out than most other areas and therefore must live vicariously through others that are already experiencing grass, flowers and warmth. I woke up yesterday to 30's, sideways blowing snow and part of me just said eff it I'm not running today. The mountain (CBMR) was said to have gotten 18 new inches by Sunday morning and in town around 7 new inches. Then, my brain dueling back and forth with itself said just WO-man up and do it. I did. It was only 13, but I was just floored that I busted that much out. It's a dirt road out and back that I did twice with mostly uphill out and down hill back. It winds up through pine trees back to the winter trailhead. funderson can feel me when I say I experienced the winds at the end of Cement Creek, not once, but twice. On the bright side, the sun came out for a brief moment or two, I did hear birds singing and the dogs had a muddy blast of an afternoon.

You have nerves of steel, my lady. Well done. I was wondering about your run. I'm impressed you did Cement Creek not once, but twice..amazing. I, on the other hand, had my own battle with snow and pow on the hill. It was also pretty epic (and fun...but don't tell...).
